Intern at a Leading Literary Agency
Interns are responsible for reading manuscripts and proposals, writing reader’s reports, reading and responding to unsolicited submissions, and providing editorial feedback on client proposals. Interns additionally work closely with agents on up-coming and current projects, writing blog posts and web copy, assisting with subsidiary rights, reviewing legal agreements, and more. Interns will also be given the opportunity to develop their own ideas for potential clients and projects, and to pitch those ideas to agents in weekly editorial meetings. By the end of the semester, interns will have gained valuable hands-on experience, making them competitive in the job market and enabling them to think like an agent.
After working at Carol Mann Agency, our interns have found success in wonderful careers with publishers and agencies including Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, Janklow & Nesbit, Charlotte Sheedy, David Black, Gernert Co. and many more.
Internships are on-site in our New York office and require a commitment of 15-25 hours per week for three to four months. We offer academic credit to students or a travel stipend.
If you are interested in an internship position, please send your resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to state in the email’s subject line whether you’re applying for a fall, spring, or summer position. We will only respond if we are interested in setting up an interview.
