Intern at a Leading Literary Agency

Interns are responsible for reading manuscripts and proposals, writing reader reports, reading and responding to unsolicited submissions, providingeditorial feedback on client proposals, working closely withagents on up-coming and current book projects, writing blog posts and web copy, assisting with subsidiary rights, reviewing legal agreements, and more.  Interns will also be given the opportunity to develop their own ideas for potential clients and projects, and to pitch those ideas to agents in weekly editorial meetings. By the end of the semester, interns will have gained valuable hands-on experience, making them competitive in the job market and enabling them to think like an agent.

We offer on-site internships for those based in New York as well as remote internships. On-site internships require a commitment of 15-25 hours per week for three months (fall, spring, and summer semesters); remote internships are more flexible, but interns must be able to commit to working with us for several months. We offer academic credit to students for both on-site and remote internships as well as a stipend for on-site interns only.

If you are interested in an internship position, please send your resume and cover letter to samantha(at)carolmannagency(dot)com. Be sure to state in the email’s subject line whether you’re applying for a fall, spring, or summer – as well as in-office or remote – position. We will only respond if we are interested in setting up an interview.
